The Numbers

The math is hard to argue with.

The average LASIK price in the US is $4,500 for both eyes. At our partner clinics in Medellín, the same procedure costs around $1,100. Add a round-trip flight and a few nights in one of South America's most vibrant cities — you still come home thousands of dollars ahead.

Your Concerns, Addressed

Is it actually safe?

It's the first question everyone asks — and the right one to ask. The answer is yes, when you go to the right clinic. Medellín has world-class private hospitals and ophthalmology practices that serve international patients routinely. Here's what we verify before recommending any provider.

Board-certified surgeons

Every surgeon is certified by Colombia's national ophthalmology boards with thousands of procedures performed.

Same laser technology

Our clinics use the same FDA-cleared excimer laser platforms used in procedures across the United States.

Full pre-op screening

A comprehensive candidacy evaluation is done before any procedure. If you're not a candidate, you're not charged.

English-speaking staff

You'll work with clinic staff who speak English throughout the entire process — no language barrier.

Post-op care plan included

Your surgeon provides complete documentation your US eye doctor can follow for any needed follow-up care.

Founded on personal experience

Osprey was started by someone who went through this exact process and would do it again without hesitation.

Why We Exist

I was quoted $4,500. I paid $1,100.

Like most people, I'd been putting off LASIK because of the cost. Then I started researching options abroad and realized the price gap wasn't about quality — it was about market differences. I went to Medellín, worked with an excellent surgeon, and flew home with better-than-20/20 vision.

"The facility was modern, the surgeon was meticulous, and the whole experience was better than I could have expected. Medellín is a genuinely beautiful city — I extended my stay by two days just because I was enjoying myself. I started Osprey to make this easier for other people, without the weeks of research I had to do on my own." — Mark, Founder

Common Questions

Frequently asked.

What if something goes wrong after I'm home?

Your clinic provides a complete post-op care plan that any US ophthalmologist can follow. LASIK complications are rare — under 1% of cases — but if you need a follow-up, your local eye doctor can handle it using the records provided. We also stay in contact with you after the procedure.

How do I know if I'm a LASIK candidate?

The clinic performs a full candidacy screening before any procedure is performed. Common disqualifiers are very thin corneas, prescriptions outside the treatable range, or certain eye conditions. The screening is included — if you're not a candidate, you won't be charged for anything.

Is Medellín safe to travel to?

Medellín has transformed dramatically over the past 15 years and is now one of the most visited cities in South America. The El Poblado and Laureles neighborhoods — where medical clinics are located — are modern, walkable, and well-developed. Hundreds of thousands of Americans visit each year.

What exactly is included in the $1,100?

The procedure price covers both eyes: the pre-op evaluation, the surgery itself, post-op medications, and the first follow-up visit. Flights and accommodation are not included, though we're happy to give recommendations on both.

How long does the trip need to be?

Day one is the pre-op evaluation, day two is the procedure, and day three is a short follow-up. Most people plan 4–5 days so they can rest comfortably and see the city. You should avoid flying for at least 24 hours after the procedure.
